Colorado has over 3.2 million acres of designated Wilderness with another 170,000+ acres under similar protection. An overview of the features of different Wilderness areas and their locations and regulations to aid in trip planning will be provided. Slides from various areas will be shown. Understanding the Wilderness designation, the Forest Service, the National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management approaches to Wilderness preservation, and how we citizens can play a role will also be discussed in this seminar.
