Southeastern Utah is blessed with fabulous canyons and geological formations etched into the Colorado Plateau. Numerous areas contain spectacular ancient ruins and cliff dwellings. An overview of different areas to hike, backpack, mountain bike ride, raft, and explore will be provided, including applicable regulations to aid in trip planning. Slides from various areas will be shown. Hints on successful travel and camping techniques will be reviewed. Understanding various land use designations, the Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service approaches to conservation, use, and/or preservation, and how we citizens can play a role will also be discussed in this seminar.
